HANS OG GRÉTA / HANSEL AND GRETEL
STAGE DESIGN
Engelbert Humberdinck´s fary-tale opera Hansel and Gretel is based on the Grimm brothers "Hansel and Gretel" and was composed to a libretto by the composer´s sister Adelheid Wette and was firstly composed as a play for the children in the family to perform. It turned out as a full-scale opera and was premiered in Weimar in December 1893 and has been performed near Christmastime ever since.
