ATÓMSTJARNA
STAGE AND COSTUME DESIGN IN COLLABORATION WITH PROJECT CREATORS
The hybrid dance and visual art work, Atomstar, guide an exploration of the human being. It is dissected, torn apart, cut into pieces and sewn back together in alternative ways. Examined in a wider context, ranging from its roots in the ground up to the mind, sky and space.
What is a human being? What are we made of? Are we all made from the same matter? Where is the source, the atomic fusion, and where do we end? Where is the border of the body and how far does it reach? Does it merge with other bodies and form one big body? The body of nature, world, and the universe?
In the hybrid dance and visual art work, Atomstar, these questions guide an exploration of the human being. It is dissected, torn apart, cut into pieces and sewn back together in alternative ways. Examined in a wider context, ranging from its roots in the ground up to the mind, sky and space.
The work sheds a light on the multiplicity of the human being and the dimensions, facets, forms and dreams it contains.
Atomstar is an artwork in which the body and movement are at the centre in dance installations, performances, videos, and sound that together take form in a multidisciplinary experience in the newly renovated Ásmundarsalur, intertwining the building’s unique history and atmosphere.
